Rondeletia amoena is an erect, open, branching, evergreen shrub with large, shiny, oval, deep green leaves and large, rounded clusters of salmony-pink, perfumed flowers.
The flowers appear from late winter through spring. They are nectar laden and therefore attract birds and butterflies. The flowers tend to be long lasting.
Rondeletia is not as commonly seen today than it was back in the 1960s and 70s but it is a very useful plant, making an excellent hedge or screen and can handle coastal breezes very well.
They are not frost hardy however and prefer the warmer climate zones in Australia.
